US SANCTIONS TO SPREAD ON "LYSINE" ARMENIAN COMPANY PREVIOUSLY OWNED BY LATE VAZGEN SARGSIAN'S BROTHERMay 17, 2002 - 23:51 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - "Lysine" Armenian company is included in "the black-list" of the US Department of State being suspected of pandering Iran in creation of mass annihilation weapons. As reported by "Arminfo" agency making reference to "a reliable source," two years ago the then owner of the enterprise - brother of late Prime Minister Vazgen Sargsian - sold the company equipment to one of the neighbor countries. In particular, fermenters - big tanks made of stainless steel - were sold, in which microbe cultures for lysine production were bred. These microbes were never taken for mass extermination arms. They were used as foodstuff additional component for cattle. At the same time the source noted that the equipment sold could be used to produce dangerous pathogenic microbes. Let us note that at present "Lysine" plant is owned by totally different person. It was stressed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia that an active dialogue with the US administration on the fact is held. Let us remind that the decision to apply sanctions against Armenian, Moldavian and Chinese companies was made by the US Department of State May 9. The "black-list" includes 8 Chinese, 2 Moldavian and one Armenian company.
