Settlement of Meskhetians in Javakheti not massive

PanARMENIAN.Net - "The report that up to 10000 Meskhetians next year will be moved from Azerbaijan to Georgia and settled in the Javakhk region, I think, somewhat exaggerated, and this event would not be the large-scale," told a PanARMENIAN.net head of Political Science Department of the Caucasus Institute Sergey Minasyan .

According to the analyst, most Meskhetians will be resettled in Akhaltsikhe and Aspindze areas of Javakhk where in 1950 Georgians were resettled. "The settlement of Meskhetians can not have such a scale for the simple reason that the local population of Georgia categorically against this, and moreover, the socio-economic situation in this country does not allow to implement such large-scale projects," Sergey Minasyan said.
