Hayk Demoyan doesn't exclude opening of Armenian-Turkish border till yearendSeptember 8, 2009 - 00:05 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Stepwise opening of the border with Turkey is advantageous for Armenia, according to Hayk Demoyan, director of Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute. "I do not rule out that the border will be opened till the end of the year. There are several scenarios for that. For example, a motorway only is put into operation, if there are problems with railway communication. Or, both links start functioning but once a week," he told a news conference today. He also underscored that economy should be stirred up in Armenia's near-border settlements. "We would benefit from opening of the post in Markara, since it's not so far from the capital," Demoyan said. ![]() ![]() Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert.
