According to the Baku media reports the official leadership of the country inclines to accuse of the current situation the local right defending organizations that «air their dirty linen in public» as their reports state about hundreds of political prisoners in the country. According to «Echo» Baku newspaper reports the country's leadership think «if Azerbaijan is left without mandate at the session that is to take place 2002 January then the right defenders will bear responsibility. One of them, Leyla Yunusova, claims «she considers herself not guilty and thinks the expulsion of Azerbaijan is a right step». Right defender Mekhti Mekhtiyev thinks Azerbaijan will not be expelled from the European Council completely. He supposes the validity of Azerbaijan's mandate would be stopped for a definite period in order to put pressure on Baku authorities.![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
