KAREN DEMIRCHIAN'S FORMER COMRADE IN ARMS CREATES A NEW PARTY

PanARMENIAN.Net - Chairman of "Agricultural-Industrial Popular Association" of the National Assembly of Armenia Hamayak Hovhannisian started work on creating a new political party. Hovhannisian in his time was at the source of the People's Party created by Karen Demirchian but left the party ranks one of the earliest because of disagreement with the new leadership of the People's Party of Armenia. Some ten prominent figures of the Party followed his example, most part of which now participates in forming the People's Democratic Party, of which Vice-Speaker of the National Assembly Gagik Aslanian is the leader. Thus, we can speak about split of the People's Party of Armenia into three parties. In Hovhannisian's words, the party created by him will support the President, but it is against the Government, which "consists of people unable to implement the political program of the head of the state."
