Gagik Aghajanyan: armament transportation through Upper Lars impossible without notifying Georgia

PanARMENIAN.Net - According to Georgian opposition, Russia will be the only country to benefit from Upper Lars checkpoint opening.

Meanwhile, Apaven cargo transportation company director Gagik Aghajanyan said that Armenia will only be using it during summer months to transport agriculture products. For the remaining time, Russia will be conveying armament to its military base in Gyumri.

At the same time he noted that Upper Lars is equipped with upgraded checkers, which rules out transportation of arms without the knowledge of Georgian side.

Check point opening will cut down transportation period to 12 hours; however, transportation price did not decrease, still amounting to 10-12% of product cost.

Starting May 22, vehicular traffic at Upper Lars checkpoint was restored. May1 - November 1, the check point will be operating from 6 am to 10 pm; November 1-March 1 checkpoint work hours are 7 am to 7 pm.
