Famous animator Robert Sahakyants would have celebrated his 60th anniversary today

PanARMENIAN.Net - Famous animator Robert Sahakyants would have celebrated his 60th anniversary today, August 30.

Robert Sahakyants was born on August 30, 1950 in Baku. In 1964, Sahakyants moved to Yerevan, where he graduated from middle school and was accepted to Khachatur Abovyan Pedagogic Institute. Four years later he was expelled from school for failing to attend classes. But by that time (1970), he was already working at ArmenFilm Studio as an animator.

Sahakyants was the scriptwriter and artistic director for almost all his films, which were awarded at international festivals in France, Italy, Germany, Japan, as well as soviet festivals in Kiev, Yerevan, Moscow, Tallinn.

After a lengthy illness and major operation, Robert Sahakyants died on September 24, 2009 in Yerevan.
