Yerevan-Masis-Ararat fiber optic line put into operation

PanARMENIAN.Net - Yerevan-Masis-Ararat 50.5 km 10 GBps bandwidth fiber optic line was put into operation.

The first section, laid as result of cooperation between the South Caucasus Railways and GNC-Alfа, covers the towns of Masis, Ararat, Artashat and Vedi. The project envisages optic line construction in the direction of Charentsavan, Hrazdan, Sevan, Dilijan, Etchmiadzin and Armavir.

As GNC-Alfa Director General Hayk Farmanyan stated during the presentation, GNC-Alfa invested USD 2 million in the project; with SCR providing the infrastructure and sponsoring construction works.

270 km fiber optic line is scheduled to be laid till yearend; another 250 km will be operative by 2011. Construction works are performed in the framework of 2010 cooperation agreement concluded by SCR and GNC-Alfа.
