Tuna Beklevic urges Turkish government to open border with Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - The leader of Strong Turkey Party (GTP) Tuna Beklevic urged the Turkish government and parties represented at parliament to support opening of border with Armenia.

“By opening the eastern border, Turkey will prevent exacerbation of the issue,” the GTP leader said, adding that forming a propitious atmosphere for opening the border among Kars population is important to the party.

“From economic viewpoint, Kars is facing a number of problems. Opening of the border may serve as a “surgical intervention” in their settlement,” Beklevic stated, expressing hope for Armenian-Turkish border to be opened in 2011.

The GTP leader specified the opening of the border and search for ways to reconciliation among priority tasks, Turkish media report.
