Artsakh population to be included in EU humanitarian programs

PanARMENIAN.Net - Recently, a delegation of the members of European Parliament (EP) visited Armenia and NKR through the efforts of Hay Dat European committee, ARF Dashnaktsutyun parliamentary group leader Vahan Hovhannesyan stated.

During their visit to NKR, the members of EP met with the representatives of civil community including the heads of the organizations in charge of refugee issues. “The meetings helped the MPs understand that Azerbaijan’s Armenian refugees are the descendants of residents of Artsakh, as well as liberated territories. In early 1990s, when these people were subjected to pogroms and genocide, they returned to their native land,” ARFD parliamentary group leader emphasized, noting that the members of the European Parliament were unaware of the fact.

As he added, an agreement was reached for the NKR population to be included in EU humanitarian programs. “European Parliament delegation agreed with Armenian side that non- recognition of the international community does not suggest non-applicability of international law in the country,” Hovhannesyan emphasized.
