Newly-elected Yerevan Mayor swears to justify expectations![]() December 20, 2010 - 11:52 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Yerevan hosted the inauguration ceremony for the newly-elected Mayor. Karen Karapetyan solemnly swore to observe the Armenian Constitution and laws, resolutions of Yerevan city council, serve for prosperity of the city and welfare of the citizens. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, in turn, congratulated the newly-elected Mayor, expressing hope for him to justify Yerevan residents’ expectations. ArmRosgazprom board chairman Karen Karapetyan was elected Yerevan Mayor with a 50-1 vote on December 17. On December 8, former Mayor Gagik Beglaryan resigned following an incident with a presidential administration member. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
