Hrayr Tovmasyan: there is no term “political prisoner” from legal perspective

PanARMENIAN.Net - Newly appointed Justice Minister Hrayr Tovmasyan said he will do his utmost to prevent repetition of the post-election events that took place on March 1-2, 2008, in Armenia.

Asked whether representatives of the Armenian opposition, who have been imprisoned for organization of riots in Yerevan on March 1-2, are political prisoners, Tovmasyan told a press conference in Yerevan: “There is no term “political prisoner” from a legal perspective. The concept “political prisoner” is rather related to the political terminology.”
