President Sargsyan calls on Azerbaijani parliament vice speaker not to believe lies![]() March 17, 2011 - 14:51 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan responded to the appeal by vice speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament Bahar Muradova. “Dear Ms. Muradova, I have been sincerely upset by your appeal to me and my spouse made at the session of the Milli Mejlis. I have been upset for two reasons. First, I think that you were really sincere and convinced in what you said. Second, the newly invented legends about my people grow into beliefs day by day in your country, which would be very difficult to dispel by facts and healthy debate only, to reassure even the most distinguished Madam in the opposite and expose the true reality,” the President said. “I decided to respond to your statement as an Armenian. Should you engage in a frank conversation with the Azeris that know our people well they at their most sincere would definitely tell you who an Armenian is in reality. I know it is hard but at least give it a try. Undoubtedly afterwards the propaganda will render to You, you and all the others, myriads of other horrible ‘stories’, but I assure you that stories from the depths of hearts and souls are perpetual as they are real. One just needs to be familiar with them.” The President went on saying: “Yes, we face a problem and we need to deal with that problem together. Indeed, together. We must solve it and not burden it on our children. But to do that first and foremost we should be able to transform the social atmosphere leading to destruction, we should reject mechanisms nourishing it, we should be able to remake the environment that gives birth to violence bringing about irretrievable losses of young men, an environment where a child’s life may undergo speculations with suspicious stories serving the mere primitive goal of stigmatizing the whole nation. We must be able to respond to their mothers, and do that together. The only thing their mothers expect from us is the return of their children.” “Dear Madam, Although your statement had no touch to the reality whatsoever I decided to respond to it. And I hope that after an impartial investigation of the child murder case that you referred to you should be able to make another statement no matter how difficult it is,” he concluded. Recently, Milli Mejlis Vice Speaker Bahar Muradova publicly called on the Armenian President and his spouse, saying “do not let your people murder children”. Azerbaijani media reported that allegedly “Armenian armed forces killed an Azerbaijani child on March 8.” Meanwhile, the reports were controversial - some of them stated that the boy was eight, while others spoke about resident of Orta Karvend settlement Farid Badalov, a ten-year-old boy. Later, the press services of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense of NKR issued a joint statement condemning false accusations of Azerbaijani side. “The Azerbaijani official propaganda continues aggravating the situation on the occasion of the Azerbaijani boy's death in the frontier village of Orta Karvend, intensively spreading false accusations against the Karabakh party,” the statement said. “Careful investigation of the case can discover some facts testifying to the fabricated accusations of official Baku. During the March 10 monitoring conducted by the OSCE Mission in the noted place, the Karabakh party drew the attention of the monitoring group to the following facts: The distance between the front positions of the NKR Defense Army and the village of Orta Karvend makes 1400-1500 meters, i.e. to hit a man with adjusted fire from a SVD sniper rifle is impossible in this case; the relief of the noted section doesn't allow adjusted firing from the positions of the NKR Defense Army towards the opponent, as the latter has height privileges; according to reliable sources, for more accurate firing at the NKR Defense Army's positions from Orta Karvend, the Azerbaijani soldiers climb the houses' roofs. The very houses, in the yards of which 'boys play'; in the frontier villages, people usually settle in the middle or back, i.e. the safer area of the settlement and not in its front section,” the Ministries said. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution. President of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan met with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova. ![]() ![]() Partner news | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
