Karabakh conflict diplomatic settlement found, Baku thinksMarch 30, 2011 - 14:34 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijani political analyst Eldar Namazov said that the situation around the Karabakh conflict settlement has been only aggravating despite the joint statements adopted as part of meetings between the leaders of the parties to the conflict. Tenseness continues escalating at the line of contact from day to day against the background of unsuccessful negotiations, said Namazov. “Due to lack of peacekeeping forces, ceasefire is frequently violated, while the number of military incidents and losses of the two parties continue growing and threatening with transformation into large-scale hostilities. Unfortunately, the option of resumption of hostilities is rather possible,” he said. According to Namazov, a diplomatic solution to the conflict is found. “It envisages provision of an interim status to Nagorno Karabakh. The Armenian side has long ago defined the three principles, to which it is adhered in the Karabakh conflict settlement: security guarantees for the Karabakh people, existence of communication corridor between Nagorno Karabakh and Armenia, absence of Azerbaijan’s vertical authority. The idea of a step-by-step settlement with provision of an interim status to Nagorno Karabakh completely meets these three principles,” Novosti-Azerbaijan quoted Namazov as saying. ![]() ![]() Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert.
