Andriasyan defeats Bagirov in European Championship round 9

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s Arman Pashikyan, Zaven Andriasyan and Hrant Melkumyan defeated Athanasios Mastrovasilis (Greece), Rufat Bagirov (Azerbaijan) and Thorfinnsson Bragi (Iceland) respectively in their 9th round games of the European Individual Chess Championship held in France on April 31.

Gabriel Sargissian, Vladimir Akopian, Samvel Ter-Sahakyan and Robert Hovhannisyan tied their games with Gadir Guseinov (Azerbaijan), Pawel Jaracz (Poland), Daniel Fridman and Tomi Nyback (Finland) respectively.

Avetik Grigoryan was the only one among Armenian chess players who suffered a defeat in the round, losing to Baris Esen (Turkey).
