ACNIS: Azeri threats to shoot down Artsakh-bound planes uncalculatedApril 7, 2011 - 12:48 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian President Serzg Sargsyan’s intention to be the first passenger to land at the Stepanakert newly built airport is a kind of demarche, according to new director of the Armenian Center for National and International Studies (ACNIS). “Azerbaijan did not properly calculate its threats to shoot down Artsakh-bound civilian planes. However, these threats made the international community think over the seriousness of the situation in the Karabakh conflict zone,” Manvel Sargsyan told a press conference in Yerevan on April 7. “Witnessing the reaction of Armenia and world powers, Azerbaijan was forced to change tactics and ease tensions,” he said. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution. President of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan met with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova. Partner news |
