Montebello to host Armenian Genocide Candlelight Vigil on April 23April 13, 2011 - 11:49 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The San Gabriel Valley Chapter of the Armenian National Committee of America will host its annual Armenian Genocide Candlelight Vigil honoring the 96th anniversary of the Genocide. The event will be held at the Armenian Genocide Martyrs Monument at Bicknell Park, in Montebello on Saturday, April 23 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Element Band, Zulal A Capella Trio and singer/songwriter Raffi Semerdjian will perform at the event. Ara Papian, former ambassador of Armenia to Canada, will deliver the keynote address regarding Armenia’s legal claims to the six Armenian provinces that were decimated by the Genocide. The Armenian Bone Marrow Donor Registry will set up a registration booth at the event. All attendees are encouraged to sign up to help Armenian cancer patients who are in desperate need of bone marrow transplants. The Homenetmen Pasadena Azadamard chapter will also participate in their annual nine-mile march from Pasadena to the monument, Asbarez reported. Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert. On June 10, Azerbaijani President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will leave for Turkey on a working visit. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Moscow on April 22 to hold talks with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
