Gevorg Poghosyan: self-assurance spoiled my chances for gold at European Championship

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian weightlifter Gevorg Poghosyan won bronze at European Championship, having for the first time performed in 94 kg weight class. In a conversation with a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, the 2010 European champion in 85 kg weight category accepted to having underperformed.

“I’m unhappy with the results I’ve shown, as I believed myself to be in fine physical shape. I aimed to win gold at the championship, yet my own self-assurance spoiled my chances. I’ll try to fix my mistakes in future,” the weightlifter said.

“I’ll be sure not to repeat my mistake at World Championship in Paris – I cannot fail my team,” he stressed.

Armenian men’s team won 5 medals at Russia-hosted European Weightlifting Championship: Araik Mirzoyan (77 kg) - silver, Gevorg Poghosyan (85 kg) -bronze, Smbat Margaryan (56 kg)- bronze.
