THE SPANISH UNION FENOSA CONFIRMS ITS INTENTION TO PARTICIPATE IN THE TENDER FOR PRIVATIZATION OF DISTRIBUTIVE POWER NETWORKS OF ARMENIA

The Spanish Union Fenosa company confirms its intention to participate in the tender for privatization of distributive power networks of Armenia, the official representative of Union Fenosa Foreign Investments Department David Gomez said in the interview to Mediamax.

Gomez refused to give any further information and said that Union Fenosa will make comments after the tender commission finally announces the conditions of the tender.

According to the schedule, planned by the Armenian government, the winner of the tender for privatization of distributive power networks of Armenia is to be announced by February 28, 2001, while the process is expected to end in March 2001.

In December 2000 the French Electricite de France refused to participate in the tender, and so the following 3 companies pretend now to the purchase of the Armenian power networks: the Spanish "Union Fenosa", the American "AES Silk Road" and the Swiss-Swedish "ABB". In spring 2000 the Russian "Itera" company was debarred from participation in the tender. -0-
