NATO SECRETARY GENERAL TO DISCUSS IN YEREVAN PERSPECTIVES OF ENLARGING COOPERATION WITH ARMENIA

PanARMENIAN.Net - 16.01.2001, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. Perspectives of enlarging Armenia's participation in NATO "Partnership for Peace" program (PfP) will be discussed at the meetings with political and military leaders of Armenia, said NATO Secretary General Lord George Robertson, who arrived in Yerevan on Monday evening.

NATO Secretary General said Armenia has an important role in PfP and Council of Euro-Atlantic Partnership (CEAP). Replying to the question concerning the possible expansion of NATO to Southern Caucasus Lord Robertson said, "None of the Southern Caucasian states has applied for NATO membership".

NATO Secretary General Lord George Robertson arrived in Yerevan yesterday evening. Today, January 16, he will meet with the President of Armenia Robert Kocharian, Armenian Defense Minister Serzh Sarkisian and the Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II. --0--
