FOREIGN MINISTRY OF IRAN HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH DISCUSSION OF THE ARMENIAN RESOLUTION IN MAJLIS

PanARMENIAN.Net - 05.12.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi told at a press conference in Teheran that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran has nothing to do with the initiative of the possible consideration of the resolution recognizing the Genocide of Armenians by the parliament of the country.

As IRNA reports, Asefi said that the "Iranian Majlis is an independent non-governmental entity which decides within its jurisdiction".

At the end of November the Iranian press spread information that two deputies of Armenian origin were going to ask the Majlis of Iran to adopt the resolution recognizing the Genocide of Armenians of 1915. --0--
