RESULTS OF THE MEDICAL EXAMINATION OF ONE OF THE ACCUSED OF THE TERRORIST ACT AGAINST RNK PRESIDENT ARE PUBLICIZED AT THE TRIAL TODAY

PanARMENIAN.Net - 03.11.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. Today the trial of the terrorist act against RNK President in Stepanakert began with publicizing the results of the complex medical examination of accused Sasun Aghajanian, presented at the request of his lawyer. The certificate confirms that neither pathologies of psychiatric, neuropathological, therapeutic, surgical character, nor any disfunctioning and injuries of speech and auditory organs of Aghajanian, who is accused of being the direct executor of the terrorist act, were observed.

As the correspondent of Mediamax reports, the court questioned all the doctors, who took part in the complex medical examination. They actually confirmed that during Aghajanian's examination no pathologies were observed, which could cause his present behavior (the accused doesn't speak, move or respond to what is going on in the courtroom). In particular, the supposition of Zhudeks Shakarian, the lawyer of RNK ex defense minister Samvel Babayan, who thinks that the present condition of the accused could be the result of injuries and concussions experienced during war actions in the past, was rejected. The doctors affirm that cranial-cerebral nervous system of the accused is unharmed.

The State Prosecutor Mavr Ghukasian, referring to the results of the medical psychiatric examination, held in Armenia, expressed the opinion that Sasun Aghajanian hears and comprehends everything, but the shame for what he has done makes him keep silent. The psychiatrist admitted such possibility.

The trial of the case of the March 22 terrorist act against RNK President Arkady Ghukasian began on September 18 in Stepanakert. The main accused of the case is RNK ex defense minister, Lieutenant-General Samvel Babayan. -0-
