Syria may hold parliamentary election in late 2011

PanARMENIAN.Net - Parliamentary election in Syria may launch in late 2011 or early 2012, Syrian presidential adviser stated.

“Parliamentary election may become possible with formation of political forces. I believe this can be feasible, for instance, in February,” RIA Novosti cited Bouthaina Shaaban as saying.

At least 2,200 people have been killed since the anti-government protests started in Syria in mid-March, according to the United Nations. Syria's crackdown has infuriated world powers, some of which imposed sanctions on the regime, with fresh pressure piled on Syrian President Bashar Assad from neighbouring Turkey.
