  Armenia assumes chairmanship of CIS Interior Ministers Council  October 14, 2011 - 11:08 AMTPanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia has taken over the chairmanship of the CIS Interior Ministers Council. Armenian Police chief Alik Sargsyan assumed the duties from Russian Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev during a meeting that brought together Interior Ministers from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and Azerbaijan. Opening the meeting, lieutenant general Sargsyan voiced confidence that the gathering will help strengthen cooperation between the CIS member states. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution. President of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan met with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova.
