Gazprom declines comment on Karapetyan’s appointment![]() PanARMENIAN.Net - Gazprom Open Joint Stock Company has no official information on the appointment of Yerevan Mayor Karen Karapetyan as a deputy chairman of Gazprom board of directors to replace Aleksey Miller. Gazprom press service refused comment on the issue, based on the supposition the information might be a mere rumor. Yerevan Mayor Karen Karapetyan has confirmed his resignation on October 28. In an interview with Armnews TV channel, Mr. Karapetyan said he is going to take up another job. According to Armenian media reports, he was offered a post of deputy chairman of the board of directors at Russian giant Gazprom. Before assuming mayoral position, Karapetyan occupied the post of ArmRosGazprom director general. Armenian Municipality press service refused to provide comments, suggesting to come back to the question next Monday. According some reports, Vice Mayor Taron Margaryan may assume the mayoral post. Yerevan has dismissed Turkey’s demand to shut down the Armenian nuclear power plant as “inappropriate”. Armenia will loan 2.9 billion drams to Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh), according to a draft government decision. The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan has “strongly condemned” Armenia’s decision.
