Armenia’s drug market not flooded with counterfeit medication

PanARMENIAN.Net - From 2001-2011, only 43 counterfeit medicines were revealed in Armenia, director of Scientific Center of Drug and Medical Technology expertise said.

As Hakob Topchyan told November 29 press conference, all drugs are examined at the border.

Mr. Topchyan noted that Armenia like other countries in the world imports most pharmaceutical raw material from China and India.

“Working with European pharma raw materials won’t enable us to compete with other producers that use Chinese material,” Topchyan said, adding that local medication is not deprived of quality.

Director of the Center also called for opposing introduction of e-pharmacies in the country as they may foster counterfeiting medication.
