Nelson Mandela discharged from hospital![]() February 26, 2012 - 17:34 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Nelson Mandela was discharged from hospital Sunday after a check up revealed that complaints of abdomen pains were not serious, the South African presidency said on its website Sunday, February 26. “The doctors have decided to send him home as the diagnostic procedure he underwent did not indicate anything seriously wrong with him,” the office of President Jacob Zuma said in a statement. Mandela underwent a laparoscopy after being admitted to hospital on Saturday. South African Defence Minister Lindiwe Sisulu said the Nobel laureate was “okay.” Lindiwe told reporters that the 93-year-old former president was well after the procedure, which consisted of inserting a tiny camera in the abdomen to inspect internal organs. The South African government had said the visit was pre-planned, M&C reported citing DPA. Mandela, who spent 27 years in jail for his role in fighting white-minority rule in South Africa, has been in frail health for some time.
