US TO PROVIDE OVER $1 MILLION TO ENHANCE PHYSICAL PROTECTION OF ANPPMarch 4, 2004 - 22:08 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The US Department of State will allocate over $1 million to enhance the physical protection of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (ANPP). As ANPP Deputy Director General Mushegh Shahinian told Mediamax news agency today, the sum is being provided within the US Energy Ministry program for enhancement of the security of atomic stations in the post-Soviet space. The means will be spent on realization of a project of modernization of the system of physical protection of the station, planned in 2004-2005. The measures being undertaken are called to protect the ANPP against possible acts of terrorism and external interference.![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
