Armenian sambo wrestlers to participate in World Cup Stage![]() March 22, 2012 - 12:55 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - From March 25-26, Moscow will host Sambo World Cup Stage - Anatoly Kharlampiev Memorial. Tigran Kirakosyan (52 kg), Garik Kosakyan (68 kg) and Arev Antonyan (57 kg) will represent Armenia at the tournament accompanied by honored coach of Armenia Eduard Aslanyan. In a conversation with a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, president of Armenian Sambo Federation Levon Hayrapetyan attributed the small number of Armenian representatives to financial problems. “Money provided by Armenian Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs is spent on participation in European and world championships. The team didn’t even hold a team practice session due to financial problems, as a result of which sambo wrestlers trained with their personal coaches,” Mr. Hayrapetyan said. Kharlampiev Memorial will bring together representatives from 28 countries. Competitions will be held in 22 weight categories. Over 250 wrestlers are expected to perform in the tournament. Armenia’s Narek Manasyan (92kg) won Armenia’s second silver medal at the European Boxing Championships 2024 on April 28. Armenian gymnast, Olympic bronze medalist Artur Davtyan has reached the finals of the World Cup. Gor Manvelyan has denied reports alleging that he has expressed a desire to one day play for the French national team. Roma midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan is not considering FC Spartak Moscow as his next haven, according to fresh reports. Partner news |
