PanARMENIAN.Net - If Turkey enters the European Union, no one will be able to bind it to recognize the Armenian Genocide or make it go to meet Armenia. As reported by Liberty radio station, French historian, specialist of international relations and Islam Alexander Benval is of this opinion. In his book "Turkey in Europe - Muslims of Troy" he advances a number of arguments against Turkey's accession to the EU, the basic one of them being the denial of the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey. "I highlight "the Armenian question," as I think if Europe adheres to moral norms and human rights principles, it should emphasize the problem of the Armenian Genocide," the historian noted. At that he asks a question: would Europe accept Germany, if the latter had not recognized its Nazi past? In Alexander Benval's opinion, if Turkey wishes to become part of Europe, it has to act in the way Germany has acted in its time. Meanwhile, in his words, Ankara not only continues the denial of the Armenian genocide, but has also set up a monument "to the victims of a genocide allegedly committed by Armenians."
