ARMENIAN COMMUNITY OF UKRAINE NEEDS STATE SUPPORT

PanARMENIAN.Net - A group of Ukrainian Armenians has sent a letter to the Supreme Rada of Ukraine asking to include the Armenian diaspora in the list of the national minorities in need of state support and protection. As reported by "Arminfo" agency, when entering the Council of Europe the Ukrainian state has pledged to ratify the European Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities, according to which the activities of the 13 national minorities of Ukraine will appear under the state aegis. The message of the Ukrainian Armenians emphasizes the bill violates the rights of many ethnic groups, as it does not mention Armenians, Tatars, Georgians and other national minorities. "Over 100 thousand Armenians live in Ukraine, the Armenian church in Lvov is 800. We consider Ukraine should take our language and culture under state protection," - the letter says.
