Baranov: Turkey Interested in Region Instability

PanARMENIAN.Net - In cooperation with Azeris Turkey is interested in instability in the region, stated Deputy Head of the Press Service of the Defense Ministry of Russia, colonel Nikolay Baranov. In his words, in compliance with bilateral agreements the 102nd Russian base promotes stability in the region. N. Baranov denied suppositions that the Russian base located in Armenia may be involved in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict in any way. «This will never happen,» he emphasized. The Russian base has the task of cooperation with Armenian Armed Forces, Baranov said. In this respect it acts independent from Russian Federal Security Service frontier troops that along with Armenian colleagues defend Armenia's state borders with Iran and Turkey, the colonel remarked, reported Mediamax.
