Eurocommission to Allocate 13.5 Million Euros to Implement TRACECA Projects in 2006

PanARMENIAN.Net - The European Commission has decided to allocate 13.5 million euros to implement TRACECA projects on development of Europe-Caucasus-Asia transport corridor in 2006. The initially planned rate of EU allocation was 6 million euros. Program manager Athanasios Boitsios said that the Kiev session has to determine the priority programs. TRACECA participant countries presented their regional projects Tuesday. They number 58 - from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Romania, Turkey. The program was proposed in 1993 by the EU and provides for arranging transport communication between European and Central Asian countries through the Caucasus. 13 investment and 33 technical projects totaling 100 million euros are already implemented.
