Armenia Examines Possibilities of New NPP Building

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia is thoroughly examining the possibilities of a new Nuclear Power Plant building on the territory of the republic, RA Deputy Foreign Minister Arman Kirakossian stated at the IAEA 50th conference in Vienna September 18. In his words, Armenia abides by its commitments and stands for use of atomic energy for peaceful purposes exclusively.

"The Armenian government is seriously discussing the prospects of remaining within the world nuclear community even after the closing of the Metsamor NPP and examines the possibility of a new NPP building," Kirakossian said. He also remarked that Armenia is closely cooperating with the U.S. and other states in the nuclear energy sector and thanked the IAEA member states for cooperation since the restart of the ANPP in 1995, reported the RA MFA press office.
