PanARMENIAN.Net - The European Union (EU) can play a large role in the improvement of the Armenian-Turkish relations. As reported by "Mediamax" agency, Armenian foreign minister Vardan Oskanian stated in Yerevan today. He noted that in the course of the meeting with Turkish foreign minister Abdullah Gul in early June an agreement on pursuing a policy of "small steps" was arranged. "If the official Ankara stand does not change, then within the next few months we will have progress in some issues," - the minister noted. At the same time Vardan Oskanian emphasized that recognition of the Genocide is not a precondition for normalizing the Armenian-Turkish relations. "Irrespective of whether Turkey recognizes the Armenian Genocide or not, we are ready to establish normal neighborly relations with it, including diplomatic ones," - he said.
