Descendants of Hamshen Armenians commemorated Genocide victimsApril 25, 2009 - 03:28 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Commemoration of the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Empire of 1915-1923 took place in Abkhazia. Hamshen Armenians moved to Abkhazia in mid 19 th century and beginning of 20th century after the Armenian Genocide in Turkey. They come from Hamshen region of Western Armenia (modernTurkey). According to Yerkramas, newspaper of Armenians of Russia, pupils of Sukhum Armenian secondary school read poems about these tragic episodes accompanied by duduk.
