CSTO works to ensure security of member states

PanARMENIAN.Net - Following the decision to form CSTO rapid reaction force, the Secretariat and United Headquarters of the Collective Security Treaty Organization were instructed to develop draft normative documents.

"There were a large number of issues to be resolved, specifically how the CSTO member states will quarter troops and how decisions on dispatch of contingents will be taken," said Nikolay Bordyuzha, CSTO Secretary General.

"I am often asked how the RRF will act if the Nagorno Karabakh conflict flames up again. I would not to operate words like 'if'. I always say that any unreasonable utterance can arouse a wave of emotions and hamper the conflict resolution," he said.

He also said that the CSTO was formed to security of member states through collective efforts.

"The RRF is meant to settle minor armed conflicts. If the matter concerns serious menace to territorial integrity or large-scale war, the Russian-Armenian or Russian-Belarusian groupings will be engaged," Bordyuzha said, Kommersant reported.
