ARMENIANS RESIDING IN NORTH OF RUSSIA MAY SUFFER FROM LOCAL AUTHORITIES' DISCRIMINATORY MIGRATION POLICY

PanARMENIAN.Net - In the near future the Legislative Assembly of Russian Krasnodar district is going to pass a regional law on migration, which will radically contradict the country Constitution. The document draft provides for introduction of measures towards the migrants, which are discriminatory by nature. In particular, it is expected to deport those migrants, whose residence in the district is recognized illegal. Let us note that there are some half a million Armenian citizens in the territory. Emigrants of the latest wave form a significant part of them. The discriminatory law can concern their interests is spite of the fact there is the federal law on the status of the Armenian citizens, permanently residing in the Russian Federation. "We should try to spread the hearsay that migrants live badly in our district," - vice-governor of the district Leonid Baklitskiy stated recently. At the same time he made it clear that Moscow's approval was received. Commenting on the Krasnodar leadership unconstitutional plans Press Secretary of the Russian President Aleksey Gromov emphasized that the Kremlin had not licensed such legislative enactment. «President Putin proceeds from the fact that when establishing order in the sphere it is necessary to take into consideration both interests of the state and all the people residing on the territory of Russia, as well as to observe their rights regardless of their national identity.»
