CONSIDERATION OF ISSUE ON ARMENIAN GENOCIDE RECOGNITION BY GEORGIAN PARLIAMENT SHOULD BE POSTPONED TILL FALL, GEORGIAN DEPUTY THINKS

PanARMENIAN.Net - The recognition of the 1915 Armenian genocide in Ottoman Turkey by Georgia's parliament will complicate Georgian-Turkish and Georgian-Azerbaijani relations. According to Tbilisi news sources, Georgian Parliamentary deputy Tedo Paatashvili has stated this. He has stated that taking into consideration this, Georgian lawmakers have to abstain from consideration of this issue. Against the background of Georgia-USA close military cooperation, the consideration of the issue on recognition of the fact of the Armenian genocide should be postponed till fall, stated Paatashvili. At the same time, he thinks the recognition of the fact of the Armenian genocide itself will not have any special importance in the relation of Georgia and Armenia. It should be reminded that the Armenian population of Akhalkalaki city demanded the recognition of the 1915 Armenian genocide by official authorities of Georgia at the meeting with chair of Georgian parliament Nino Burjanadze.
