Armenian President meets Turkmenistan Mejlis speaker![]() November 25, 2010 - 16:06 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Within the framework of his visit to Turkmenistan, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan met with Mejlis speaker Akja Nurberdiyewa. At the meeting, the parties discussed issues on further strengthening and development of interparliamentary ties. The importance of forming Armenia-Turkmenistan friendship group in Mejlis was mutually emphasized. Armenian delegation led by President Sargsyan will return to Yerevan today, presidential press service reported. ![]() ![]() Armenian-Turkmen relations Armenia and Turkmenistan established diplomatic relations in October 1992. The two countries have enjoyed friendly relations since then and in June 2008 the Presidents confirmed willingness to strengthen ties in all fields. Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian paid an official visit to Turkmenistan in April 2009, when a protocol on cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs was signed. Armenia and Turkmenistan has so far concluded over 50 agreements. According to the Armenian National Statistical Service, the turnover between the two states totaled $17 312 900 in January-December 2009. ![]() ![]() Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert. On June 10, Azerbaijani President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will leave for Turkey on a working visit. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Moscow on April 22 to hold talks with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
