EP resolution is message to Baku, NKR official says

PanARMENIAN.Net - The resolution of the European Parliament proved that Nagorno Karabakh Republic is perceived as an integral part of Europe, according to the adviser of NKR Foreign Minister Ruben Zargaryan.

As the NKR official reminded, in accordance with March 11, 1999 EP resolution, the internationally legal validity of Karabakh independence was accepted.

On April 7, 2011, EP adopted a resolution, urging to consider informal contacts and consultations with de facto authorities of the breakaway territories.

“Baku administration repeatedly questioned the sense in holding Karabakh talks, expressing unwillingness to implement any real steps to settle the issue. The recognition of Karabakh is an innovative alternative to status quo and a way out of a standstill,” Zargaryan stressed.

“The EP resolution is a message to Baku, which will make it realize that confrontations with Nagorno Karabakh Republic, as well as the international community, dooms Azerbaijan to the position of a state lying outside the boundaries of a civilized society,” Analitika.at.ua quoted him as saying.
