PACE President was initiator of restoring Subcommittee on Nagorno Karabakh

PanARMENIAN.Net - Head of the Azerbaijani representation to the Council of Europe, Arif Mammadov said that one of the commitments Azerbaijan and Armenia undertook while becoming members of the Council of Europe was the peaceful resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

“PACE Subcommittee for Nagorno Karabakh should continue its activity, unless the conflict is settled”, Mammadov told journalists.

He said the Subcommittee existed in practice and didn’t stop its activity. “After the death of Russell Johnston, the committee suspended official meetings. But the Azerbaijani and Armenian delegations meet almost within the frameworks of all sessions. PACE President also attends these meetings and he was the initiator of the restart of the Subcommittee’s activity,” APA quoted Mammadov as saying.
