YEREVAN AND TEHRAN STRESSED IMPORTANCE OF IMPLEMENTION OF IRAN-ARMENIA GAS PIPELINE

At the meeting with the Armenian Defence Minister and Secretary of the Armenian Security Council Serge Sargssian the President of Iran Mohhamad Khatami stressed the importance of implementation of the project on laying the Iran-Armenian gas pipeline.

Iran's Minister of Foreign Affairs Kamal Kharrazi and Sargssyan stated in Tehran "that positive steps have been taken to set up the gas pipeline but new momentum is needed to start the project."

The sides also discussed the issues on expansion of bilateral relations and North-South cooperation. Kharazi stressed that the materialization of North-South axis would play an effective role in promoting regional stability and security. --0--
