NATIONAL SECURITY COUNCIL OF TURKEY MAY DECIDE TODAY TO CLOSE THE AIR CORRIDOR OF ARMENIA

PanARMENIAN.Net - 29.09.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. National Security Council of Turkey will convene today and discuss the "action plan" that will be implemented against the US and Armenia, in reply to the discussion of the Armenian Genocide Resolution in the US Congress.

Cumhuriyet paper reports that strict measures may be taken against Armenia including imposing a severe embargo and the closure of the air corridor, connecting the two countries. Deterrent measures may also be taken against Armenia, which reinforces its military cooperation with Russia.

Turkey, which has been realizing the land blockade of Armenia since the Karabakh conflict started, kept close the air corridor until 1995, when the Turkish prime minister Tansu Ciller, being much pressed by the USA, decided to raise the blockade of H-50 air corridor. -0-
