17 STATES ALREADY DECLARED THEY WOULD PARTICIPATE IN COMING NATO MANEUVERS IN ARMENIAApril 30, 2003 - 22:16 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - 17 states - both NATO members and partners - stated they would participate in the coming "Cooperative Best Effort" military maneuvers in Armenia. First deputy defense minister of Armenia, chief of the Headquarters of the Armenian Armed Forces Mikayel Harutyunian reported. In his words, countries, which are not NATO members or partners, have also expressed willingness to participate in the maneuvers, in particular, a number of Mediterranean states. M. Harutyunian noted the status of Turkey's participation in the maneuvers was still being discussed: three representatives of the country may arrive in Armenia as observers. Commenting on negative statements of some Armenian politicians referring to the possible participation of the Turkish military in the exercises in the territory of Armenia, the deputy defense minister of Armenia said Yerevan was ready to totally secure all maneuver participants without exception.![]() ![]() Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert. On June 10, Azerbaijani President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will leave for Turkey on a working visit. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Moscow on April 22 to hold talks with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
