DISPUTES OVER DEMONSTRATION OF EGOYAN "ARARAT" FILM CONTINUE IN TURKEY

PanARMENIAN.Net - In the course of today's press conference Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and minister of culture Erkan Mumcu will touch upon the topical issue of demonstration of Atom Egoyan's "Ararat" film in the country. At the same time Turkish media report deputy of the Republican-Democratic Party Atilla Bashoghlu has addressed the government regarding the arguments of the minister of culture, who has authorized the "Ararat" screening in Turkey. "If the showing of the film was not cancelled due to a number of comments, our compatriots would see it. Why was not the demonstration of such a film allowed?" says the inquiry message. The deputy also supposes that Turkey needs to organize conferences devoted to the statements over the Armenian Genocide and other disputable national issues.
