The decisions taken will help promote cooperation between the customs services, boost turnover volumes, develop documents for ultimate trade and economic potential between the countries.

Suppression of shadow economy was in the focus of the meeting. The participants discussion implementation of joint projects and measures to be taken to combat customs violations, corruption and counterfeit production. Cynology was mentioned as an efficient method to reveal contraband.

Data exchange was also named among priorities.

“Organization of this meeting in Yerevan for the third time is an evidence of Armenia’s interest towards intensification of the regional cooperation. The activity of the Council of Heads of CIS Customs Services is aimed at drafting documents to facilitate the maximum usage of the trade and economic potential of our countries,” Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said.

Head of the Ukrainian State Customs Service Igor Kaletnik noted for his part that a new ferry dock will be built in Kerch, what will help boost the flow of Armenia-bound goods.

Besides, Armenia and Ukraine reached an agreement on training of Armenian customs officers in Ukraine.
