The incident which occurred at 17th exhibition festival of press and information agencies in Iran proves that Azerbaijan, the eastern neighbour of Armenia, has remained unchanged, with Azeri journalists far from pursuing a mission of disseminating objective information.

Unfortunately, none of the Azeri delegation representatives apologized for the behavior of their colleague, who broke into the Armenian pavilion and tore off the map of Armenia, following official opening of the exhibition. If Azeri journalists, identifying themselves as social elite and key players in forming public opinion in their country, cannot admit the guilt of their colleague and apologize for his uncivilized behavior, we shouldn’t expect the Azeri people to pluck up courage and repent the Armenian pogroms on the territory of Azerbaijan in the beginning and the end of 20th century. Bottom line: Azeris have not learned to apologize, and why would they, if the issues can be resolved through force?

For justice’s sake, it should be noted that several days after the incident, we, the journalists representing Armenia, were approached by a representative of the Azeri delegation, suggesting to exchange contact information for possible cooperation in future. Could it be some way for Azeris to apologize?

The above-mentioned proves the reality – our Azeri colleagues are using positions of journalists to benefit their dictatorial and racist authorities, deeply misleading Azerbaijani society on what actually came to pass at the Tehran exhibition. The fact is that a generation of unbalanced fanatics, allegedly fighting for the “territorial integrity of their country”, while unfamiliar with true information relating to the land on which they lay claims, is being brought up in Azerbaijan.

P. S. When asked by the Armenian journalist where is the We and Our Mountains memorial (which was the cause of the stir aroused by the Azeri delegations) is located, Azeris shook their heads, unable to give a reply. The inference is obvious.
