Vladimir Akopian drops to 7th at European Chess Championship

Following a draw with Russia's Vladimir Malakhov in the 9th round of European Chess Championship in Plovdiv, Armenia’s Vladimir Akopian scored 7 point and dropped to 7th place.

Seven players gained 7 points each, with French Fressinet Laurent leading the tournament.

Tigran L. Petrosian won over Hungary’s Peter Prohaszka, Zaven Andriasian beat Nils Grandelius from Sweden, while Samvel Ter-Sahakyan and Arman Pashikian gained victory over Nikolaos Galopoulos (Greece) and Jasmin Bejtovic (Bosnia and Herzegovina) respectively.

Robert Hovhannisyan - Nikola Djukic (Montenegro), Sergei Movsesian - Ivan Saric (Serbia), Gabriel Sargissian - Evgeniy Najer matches ended in a draw.

Hrant Melkumyan lost to Aleksey Dreev from Russia; Hovhannes Gabuzyan and Vladimir Pogosian faced a defeat by Romania's Vladislav Nevednichy and Israel’s Ofir Aharon respectively.
