New York to host “Armenian Artists Celebrate Easter” exhibit

New York’s St. Vartan Armenian Cathedral announced a special art exhibit in the Diocesan Complex as part of the upcoming observance of Easter Eve and Easter Sunday on April 7 and 8, 2012.

Behold, All Things Have Become New: Armenian Artists Celebrate Easter is an exhibition of works by prominent Yerevan-based painters as well as by prolific Armenian artists based in America: Moko Khachatryan, Vahan Rumelyan, Ararat Aarkissian, Sarkis Hamalbashian, Hamlet Hovsepian, Ruben Grigoryan, Karine Matsakian, Arevik Arevshatyan.

Curator for the exhibit is Vasken Kalayjian, renowned graphic designer and artist.

Behold, All Things Have Become New will be on display in Guild Hall and Yerevan Hall of the St. Vartan Armenian Cathedral complex, 630 Second Avenue (at 35th Street), in New York City.

On April 7, the Easter Eve service in St. Vartan Cathedral starts at 6:00 p.m. A reception will follow in Haik and Alice Kavookjian Auditorium, during which the exhibit will be open, 8:00 – 9:00 p.m.

On April 8, the exhibit will be open following the Easter Sunday service in St. Vartan Cathedral, and concurrent with the Easter reception in Haik and Alice Kavookjian Auditorium.
